Have you visited Gulf Shores and Orange Beach during the fall? It’s the favorite time of year for some of our visitors and locals. The summer crowds have gone, the daytime temperatures are still nice and warm, the evenings are a little cooler and the sun is beautifully bright.

We have a few tips that can make your autumn visit to the coast enjoyable while keeping our beaches pristine to boot.

  1. The air may feel cooler, but the sun is still intense. A large umbrella provides shade and is easier to handle than a tent.
  2. Don’t forget your sunscreen. (See number 1.)
  3. For sitting and watching the waves roll in, a beach blanket or lightweight beach chairs are easy to transport and will add to your comfort.
  4. Pack a cooler with snacks and drinks if you plan to spend a few hours on the beach. Choose a cooler with large wheels for rolling in the sand.
  5. Keep your beach toys corralled for ease in packing and include an extra container for trash.

As you end the day, be sure to pack everything out that you brought in. When you look behind you, only your footprints should be in the sand.
