First, check local weather forecasts for conditions before you take off. Storms come up fast on the Gulf Coast, so boaters should stay aware. If you notice darkening clouds, rough winds or sudden drops in temperature, play it safe by getting off the water. Second, use [...]

Why is our Alabama Gulf Coast sand so soft and white?

By |2018-02-07T15:23:43+00:00February 7th, 2018|Blog|5 Comments

Everyone loves getting their toes in the sand along Alabama’s beautiful beaches, but do you know how that sand is created? If you’re on social media, get the word out [...]

Follow green fishing practices during the winter

By |2018-01-24T16:53:20+00:00January 24th, 2018|Blog|0 Comments

Anglers enjoy reeling in redfish, black drum, pompano and sheepshead during winter months. Whether fishing from the pier or the beach, or going out on a charter, be eco-friendly when you cast that line. Hook and line is the most responsible method for fishing (as opposed to using gill nets or seines, though those methods have their place, too). The No. 1 cause of habitat destruction is derelict gear. It’s a phenomenon known as “ghost fishing.” Left-behind line, hooks and [...]
