Winter doesn’t slow down the adventures along the coast of Alabama. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are filled with many opportunities for fun all year, but kayaking is one of the highlights of this season.

The Back Bay Blueway consists of four unique trails. There are 21 launch sites among Fort Morgan Trail, Little Lagoon Trail, Gulf State Park Trail, and Orange Beach Trail that allow kayakers and other paddlers access to the local waterways.

Kayaking during the winter can be a delightful experience. The season brings a stillness and calmness not as often found during the rest of the year, and fewer people on the water mean you to have more space. This is especially appreciated if you are new to kayaking and looking to practice in open water.

Grab a hot beverage and embrace the cooler temperatures while taking in the beautiful scenery as you paddle the waterways surrounding Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

When out on the water, remember to Leave Only Footprints and do not litter – please dispose of all your trash properly. We thank you for allowing others to enjoy the same experience of clean and litter-free waters.
