After a long, cold and often wet winter, spring is always a welcome sight. It’s the perfect time to go to the beach to sunbathe and play on the water’s edge. Even though this can be a time of fun, it’s important to be considerate of others and to clean up after yourself.

Orange Beach and Gulf Shores public beaches have trash receptacles located on the beach for any garbage you need to dispose of. It’s strongly suggested to carry a couple trash bags so you can collect empty bottles, food bags, etc., as you go, and then discard them in the provided receptacles at the end of your beach time. Designate one bag for recyclable items like aluminum cans and plastics, and the other for your trash. This keeps our beach clean and beautiful for your next trip and for others, plus it helps eliminate waste.

When you pack up for your visit, utilize items that can be washed out and reused. Packing snacks and food in reusable containers will limit the amount of waste. Also, do not carry any glass to the beach. No one wants to step on broken glass.

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Gulf Shores or Orange Beach public beaches during spring break. Be sure to heed the warnings and follow directions. This will ensure that everyone – from young families to young adults and older adults – can enjoy the beach safely and together.

Spring vacations are meant to be fun for everyone! The Orange Beach and Gulf Shores communities are known for the family-friendly destination and activities. Please help keep it that way by doing your part to keep it clean.
