Spring break begins a season of warm sunshine and beach days. We are all ready for some fun in the sun along Coastal Alabama! Following the Leave Only Footprints program is the way to make sure everyone can enjoy the white-sand beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Not familiar with the guidelines? Below are a few tips to keep in mind during your spring break vacation.

  • Bring drinks in a reusable cup to reduce plastic waste.
  • Stash an extra bag with your gear to easily dispose of your trash and reduce the chance of littering.
  • Use boardwalks or marked paths when walking to the beach. Don’t walk on vegetation or sand dunes because that is damaging to the ecosystem.
  • Keep a safe distance from wildlife and please do not feed them.
  • Build all the sand castles you want, but be sure to fill in any holes you’ve dug.
  • Glass, loud music, fires, pets, vehicles, trash, and metal shovels are not allowed at the beach at any time.

Following the Leave Only Footprints guidelines ensures that spring break visitors of all generations can enjoy the clean beaches along our pristine coastline!
