Water covers 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, but just 3% of that water is fresh. It is vital to our environment that we are taking care of our waters.

August is recognized as Water Quality Month. It’s an opportunity to educate the population on the importance of protecting our water resources.

Water pollution is happening at an alarming rate. We should all be doing our part to raise awareness and reduce pollution.

How can you help?

  1. Pick up after your pet.
  2. Use a broom instead of a hose to wash down your driveway.
  3. Wash your car at a car wash instead of home.
  4. Do not flush medication down your toilet.
  5. Collect rainwater.
  6. Drain oil and antifreeze into a container and take it to a recycling center or service station.
  7. Don’t use fertilizer.
  8. Join an organization that is dedicated to cleaning up our waters.

Help spread the word about Water Quality Month and how we can all pitch in to save this precious resource.
