When you visit our beaches, we ask that you leave them better than you found them. But your Leave Only Footprints lifestyle doesn’t need to stop when you leave the beach. Below are just a few ways you can reduce your impact on our environment even after returning home.

1) Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

Find information about recycling programs in your area. When you reuse, reduce and recycle, you save money, energy and natural resources.

2) Use Canvas Bags Instead of Plastic

Heading to the store? Bring your own canvas bags instead of using the paper or plastic sacks from the store.

3) Start a Compost Pile or Bin

Don’t throw away food and yard waste. Start a compost pile. According to the EPA, if all Americans started composting, we could reduce landfill waste by up to 30 percent!

4) Use Cloth Rather Than Paper

Stop or minimize your use of paper towels and other paper products. Reusable cloths are an excellent green alternative!

5) Use Pre-Owned Items

When you shop for pre-owned home items or secondhand clothing, you not only save money, but you reduce your environmental impact.

6) Sustainable, Insulated Drinkware

Trade out those plastic water bottles for reusable, insulated drinkware. Colder drinks. Healthier environment. It’s a win-win!
