Get the family involved as you prepare for your day of fun in the sand and sun. Packing beach essentials doesn’t have to be a chore. Make a checklist and assign tasks to everyone. Be sure to pack light – everything you take must come back at the end of the day.

These tips may help as you plan your strategy:

  • Shade is an important element if you plan to spend much time on the sand. Large beach umbrellas are easier to handle than canopy tents. Have more than one to cover the family.
  • Beach chairs with backpack straps are a good choice for the adults. A beach blanket or beach towels make good landing areas for the youngsters.
  • For a full day at the beach, a cooler with drinks and snacks is a must. Choose one with large wheels for traveling across the sand.
  • The best way to carry all your necessities to the beach and back is in a wagon with large, sand-friendly wheels.

At the end of your beach day, be sure to pick up all of the kids’ toys, dispose of trash and toss recyclables in the proper containers, and Leave Only Footprints behind you.
